Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!

ShawnWhether you are continuing your Peace Wapiti Public School Division journey, or joining us for the first time, I want to take this opportunity to extend my warmest wishes to each of you for a year filled with learning, growth, and success. As our summer comes to an end, I want to remind you that your school years are a remarkable time in your life—please enjoy every moment, explore new interests, and create memories that will stay with you for years to come. You are our future, and your potential is truly limitless.

This time of year brings a special blend of excitement and anticipation. For some, it may also include a bit of anxiety as we step into new experiences, classrooms, and challenges. Let’s remember to support one another, and meet these times with kindness, resilience, and compassion. At Peace Wapiti Public School Division, we are fortunate to have schools full of dedicated educators who are here to support you every step of the way. It is through strong relationships and a spirit of collaboration between students, families, and staff that we all thrive.

I want to acknowledge the ongoing labour negotiations between the Teacher Employer Bargaining Association and the Alberta Teachers’ Association. While these discussions do not directly involve PWPSD, we recognize the added stress they may place on families. To support clear communication, PWPSD has created a webpage with the most current information. The site will be updated promptly as new details become available.

To our parents and guardians—thank you. Your continued trust and partnership are deeply appreciated. We are honoured that you’ve chosen Peace Wapiti Public School Division as your educational home. Our division’s mission, Educating Today for Success Tomorrow, reminds us the effort we put in today lays the foundation for the success that lies ahead. Your encouragement and support are vital to the success of our students, and we look forward to working together in the year ahead.

As educator Rita Pierson once said, “Every child deserves a champion—an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best they can possibly be.”

On behalf of Peace Wapiti Public School Division, I wish each of you a positive, rewarding, and successful school year.

Warm regards,

Shawn O’Shea
